Ulm
Ulm, located along the banks of the Danube in Baden-Württermberg, is known especially for being the birthplace of Albert Einstein in 1879 and even earlier, in 1802, for Albreicht Berblinger, known to history as the "Tailor of Ulm ", the adventurous and enterprising gentleman to whom we owe the first prototype of hang gliding. It was declared imperial city under Federico Barbarossa, as the privileged stopover of the aristocrats during their travels. It was the thriving center of commerce and craft activities, to which the export of fine fabrics was added during the fifteenth century. This secured the town a new and lasting wave of welfare. Only the discovery of America, with the consequent change in the exchange of trade treaties, marked the decline of the city, decline which continued in the eighteenth century with the French and Austrian invasions and the loss of the imperial city title in 1803. Incorporated in 1879 in the Kingdom of Württemberg, it was witness to the horrors and devastation of WWII, under whose bombing was almost completely razed to the ground. Rebuilt after the war, now Ulm is an important industrial center specialized in mechanical and electronic products and, with the birth of the new university center, a forefront cultural center. The city offers its visitors the cathedral with the highest bell tower in the world, the decorated Rathaus (Town Hall), a lovely old town, the fabulous fishing district, the Wiblingen monastery and more museums and collections of high artistic value. Do not miss the parks, music, theater and the famous parties known as the "Fischerstechen" and the parade on water called “Nabada”. Finally, the inevitable stroll along the Danube, which separates Ulm of the modern suburb of Neu Ulm, which belongs to Bavaria. According to many, Ulm is the ideal place to live in, try it to believe it.
